In 1978, the Bead Shop in London began the concept of open-display bead stores. Finding a strong demand for beads and personal jewelry design, the company became a leading importer of beads from around the world. In 1983, a sister company, Beadworks, began trading in the US as a mail order supplier. This led to the opening of the first US store in 1987. Today the American organization has two company stores and four franchise stores and will open it's doors in Atlanta on February 1st.
